About Abu Bakar photography

Abu Bakar Photography biography & artist statement

I actually started my photography journey back in 2016 by purchasing a small crop sensor camera (Nikon D7100 with Kit lenses). Spent almost a year with it and took photos of almost everything out of my daily life. I still remember when I took a long exposure for the first time with the help of my good friend Ammar in the downtown Dubai and I was shocked to see what digital cameras are capable of. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that before coming to the great city of Dubai, I didn’t even know which button you actually press to take the photo. So after receiving loads of commendation from family and friends, I gave photography a permanent place in my daily life. These days, after a few years, the situation is that my camera bag is always with me, no matter what I am doing and where I am going.

Like many others, I too started taking photos of almost everything around me and later on realised where I shoulkd be focusing. It wouldn’t be wrong if I say that your first 100,000 photos tells you in what genre you are naturally good at.

So far with what I call the limited time available out of my busy schedule, I have managed to document several moments of People, Places & Heritage from Middle East and Asia. As of 2022, I am currently working on my first ever photo on the Middle East. Hopefully, it will be launcged soon :)

The usual question I receive almost every week on my social media accounts. I personally don’t believe in gear but in one’s perspective and passion to follow his dreams. Apart from this, I personally believe in few things; a sturdy tripod (benro), a great glass (Tokina), Filters set for impeccable quality (Lee Filters) and most importantly a cleaning kit to keep my gear safe.

What Camera I use?

By profession, I am a financial analyst, working in United Arab Emirates for the many years. Grateful to this beautiful country who has provided me so many great opportunities and peace of mind, enabling me to gain so many things out of my daily routine.

Born in southern Punjab of Pakistan, I graduated from University of the Punjab Lahore, in 2008. Later in 2013, passed the professional qualification exams of ACCA and currently holds the Fellow Membership of ACCA.
